Leadership and Development Group

The Full Story

Haven Leadership and Development Group was created from a simple belief: vision is powerful, but vision alone is not enough. Leaders also need healthy people, effective systems, clear strategy, and sustainable structure to build what they have been entrusted to lead.

Over the years, Dr. Jennifer A. Marion recognized a recurring challenge among leaders, entrepreneurs, churches, nonprofits, and developing organizations. Many had vision, passion, and purpose but struggled with what came next. They needed help developing people, strengthening leadership practices, creating effective systems, identifying organizational gaps, and turning ideas into structures capable of sustaining growth.

Drawing from her experience in leadership, behavioral health, education, military service, ministry, organizational development, and entrepreneurship, Dr. Marion established Haven Leadership and Development Group to help leaders move from vision to implementation. The work focuses not only on what leaders are building, but also on who they are becoming while they build.

The Story Behind the Kingdom Builder Series

The foundation for much of this work is captured in Dr. Marion’s four-book Kingdom Builder Series, which was developed from a deeper study of how God builds people, leaders, systems, and Kingdom infrastructure throughout Scripture.

The series began with The Nehemiah Season, which explores the journey of the apostolic builder through Nehemiah’s assignment to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls. It became more than a study of Nehemiah. It developed into a blueprint for understanding burden, vision, character, foundations, people, systems, opposition, infrastructure, completion, and legacy. From this work emerged the Apostolic Builder Framework™, providing leaders with a process for examining not only what they are building but whether they have developed the foundation necessary to sustain it.

The journey expanded with The Builders Bible, which moves beyond Nehemiah to examine builders throughout Scripture. Through the lives and assignments of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Bezalel and Oholiab, Joshua, David, Solomon, Elijah, Zerubbabel, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Paul, the book demonstrates that builders do not all build the same thing or in the same way. Some build structures. Others build people, systems, cultures, places of worship, governing frameworks, or foundations for generations they may never personally see completed.

The third book, Jesus the Master Builder: Building What Belongs to the Father, brings the series to its theological center. Jesus provides the ultimate model for Kingdom building because He developed people, established foundations, confronted unhealthy systems, prepared leaders, communicated vision, and built with a generational purpose. His declaration, “I will build my church,” provides the foundation for understanding that Kingdom building must ultimately remain connected to the purposes of the Father rather than the ambition of the builder.

The fourth book, Prophetic DNA, addresses another essential component of building: hearing, discerning, communicating, and stewarding what God reveals. It examines prophets, prophecy, prophetic formation, revelation, maturity, character, healthy prophetic culture, and the responsibility of those positioned at spiritual altars, gates, and breaches. The book emphasizes that revelation requires both spiritual maturity and responsible stewardship if it is going to contribute to healthy Kingdom infrastructure.

Together, the four books tell one larger story. The Nehemiah Season teaches the builder how to rebuild. The

Builders Bible reveals the different ways God uses builders. Jesus the Master Builder establishes Christ as the foundation and model for building. Prophetic DNA addresses how revelation is discerned and stewarded within what is being built.

From Blueprint to Development

Haven Leadership and Development Group brings these principles beyond the pages of the books and into practical leadership and organizational development. Through consulting, assessments, strategic planning, leadership development, workshops, training, and organizational support, leaders are given opportunities to examine their vision, people, systems, culture, communication, infrastructure, and readiness for growth.

For faith-based organizations, these services can incorporate the biblical principles and tools developed throughout the Kingdom Builder Series. For businesses, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and other organizations, the same leadership and organizational-development principles can be applied within the context and needs of the organization.

The goal is not simply expansion. Growth without structure can create instability, and vision without developed people can become difficult to sustain. Haven Leadership and Development Group helps leaders examine what already exists, identify what needs to be strengthened, and develop the people and systems necessary to carry the vision forward.

This is where the books and the organization meet. The Kingdom Builder Series provides the blueprint. Haven Leadership and Development Group helps leaders put the blueprint to work.

Build the Vision. Develop the People. Strengthen the Structure. Build What Lasts.
